THE BOWL OBSESSION

I'm obsessed with bowls. I love them even more than spoons and pots. I am incapable of walking past a kitchen store or a housewares store and not stopping in to look at the bowls. And if there is something that catches my eye, it usually haunts me until I give in and buy it.

Of course, this means that I have a lot of bowls. Ordinary bowls, hand thrown bowls, earthenware bowls from Tuscany, Moroccan painted bowls, Chinese fish bowls, glass bowls, carved wooden bowls from Haiti and British Columbia, very, very large white bowls....and so on and so on.

I love the bowls so much that they are often the inspiration for a meal. I get the urge to use some particular bowl and start thinking about what would look beautiful inside of it. I decide to have a party so that I can fill up my extra large bowls with rice or tabouleh or roasted tomatoes. This may explain why I have so many images of salads and pasta.

So if you think of bowls as canvases, this is the category for you. If not, then maybe the pasta, rice, vegetable, soup, and salads will draw you in.
